Charitapes - Vol. 2 Submissions Now Open!

Updated: May 27, 2021

EDIT: Submissions are now closed and the comp will be release June 4, 2021.

Common Time Tapes is putting together Volume 2 of "Charitapes," a series of compilations put together by unsigned artists to raise funds for non-profit charities. The charity this time around is The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI).

"The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society."

Read more about EJI and their mission at http://eji.org.

The only requirement to submit a track for consideration to the comp is that the submitter owns the rights to the song, not another artist or record label. All genres accepted.

Recap of Charitapes - Vol. 1:

With "Charitapes - Vol. 1," 19 artists from around the globe came together to raise over $210 for Project C.U.R.E.'s Coronavirus Relief Fund, supplying hospitals with medical supplies experiencing shortages when COVID-19 cases spiked in the Spring of 2020.

With Vol. 2, we're hoping to at least double what was raised with Vol. 1. Just like last time, 100% of the proceeds made from physical and digital sales of the comp will go to the charity of choice. If you or someone you know would like to contribute a song to this compilation, you can do so at this form.

Update with some FAQ from Vol. 1:

If my band contributes a song, will we still own the rights to it? Yes! By contributing a song, you are not relinquishing ownership of it. All you're doing is granting Common Time Tapes permission to include your song on this compilation and this compilation only. The song is still yours.

Does the song have to be exclusive to this compilation? No. This can be a track that you've released previously, or one you plan to release in the future. So long as you still own the rights to it, we can use it if you grant us permission.

Does the song have to be new? No. We encourage you to contribute a newer song, but it's not necessary. You can submit a song you've released previously if you choose to, so long as you own the rights to it.

What genre are you looking for? Literally anything. We're trying to make this compilation diverse. We want everyone to enjoy it, so we encourage diversity. Pop, rock, hip-hop, acoustic, poetry, folk, you name it. We're into it.

What do you need from me? Not much. All we need is your permission to use the track and a high-quality file download (preferably WAV) of the song.
